It's tempting to look at someone who's been successful and assume it was an easy ride for them. For most people, though success didn't come easy at all. They pushed through a bunch of obstacles and kept persevering through a variety of setbacks.
Confronting fear and anxiety, tolerating a lot of risks, maintaining a relentless focus on an ambition despite the odds or opinions- those are the ingredients that differentiate folks who make it and those who don't. And it's in those realities that we develop the resolve that will sustain us no matter what comes.
This week I'm so thrilled for my new friend and Nascar racing sensation, Natalie Decker, to join us in our ongoing conversation about dreaming big. She not only embodies focus and determination but also someone who knows what it takes to push through setback after setback.
Natalie Decker got her start racing go-karts at the age of 9 where she won four track championships in three years. From there, she moved into full-sized stock cars and became the CWSSA Super Stock Champion. From there, she won seven feature races in 2014 and became the track champion and earned Rookie of the Year in the Super Late Model division. Decker became the first female racer to score a podium finish in the ARCA Midwest Tour. Her success in the state of Florida through the season also earned Decker the prestigious title of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Rookie of the Year in the Sunshine State. In 2018, Decker earned the pole in ARCA Racing Series at Daytona International Speedway. She holds the highest finish in the NASCAR Truck Series and currently races part time in NASCAR Xfinity. Decker has many dreams and goals for her racing career, and strives to make a difference in the lives of others.
